10 days!

I cannot believe we are now 10 days away from the wedding! I am so excited! Time sure has flown. It seems like we skipped right from 10 months to 10 days. Everything is coming together so nicely. We’ve had a lot of great help from our parents and our bridal party and my to do list is slowly dwindling down. Although some days I seem to add something as soon as I cross something off!

Gabe’s brother, Adriel, will be our first wedding guest to arrive from out of town. He is also the one traveling the farthest! He flies in from Germany tomorrow night. Unfortunately his wife, Julia, won’t be able to make the trip out with him but I am excited to finally meet my 3rd future brother-in-law!

Then my mom arrives next Tuesday and friends and family begin trickling in on Wednesday! I feel like we say this a lot, but Gabe and I are so excited to see everyone and we really appreciate you all making the trip to Ohio to spend this special day with us. Our relationships with our family and friends are so important to us and most all of our friends are considered family in our book!

I will end with one piece of really exciting wedding news…we found out last week that we will be able to web cast the wedding ceremony! Our church does a web cast of the service every Sunday, so it is already all set up, they just have to turn the cameras on! I am working with the media director at the church to figure out the details to give to friends and family who won’t be able to attend the wedding so that anyone can watch from the comfort of their own home. Once we know all of the details on the web cast I will post them here.

Final Countdown

In less than a month Jenny and I will be man and wife. Wow!

Time has flown by since July 4th, 2008 when we got engaged. It seemed like the days just could not go by fast enough and now there is still plenty to do and we have less than a month to do it. The invitations went out a few weeks ago, and the RSVP cards are coming in at a pretty steady rate (if you haven't sent yours in yet - they're due on the 12!). I'm not sure what the final headcount will be but Jenny and I are very excited to see everyone and have everyone here to share our day with us. If you need to make any last minute hotel reservations or flight arrangements or rent a car, Jenny and I will be happy to help you with that.

We'll try to update a few more times before the wedding!

Less than 3 months!

Hi Everyone!

The past few months have flown by and we can't believe how close we are getting to the wedding! All of the planning is winding down and we're getting anxious for October to get here!

A lot has happened since the last post. Over Memorial Day weekend we traveled to California and spent 5 awesome days with Gabe's family and friends. We also booked our honeymoon! We'll be spending 6 days at an all-inclusive resort in Turks & Caicos. We are very much looking forward to the sand and the sun.

Jenny has 2 bridal showers next month and Gabe is in the process of moving into the house we will be living in after the wedding. We are very excited about the house! It is centrally located here in Columbus and it’s the perfect beginning for us and the dog. She already loves the big fenced in back yard!

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

6 Months To Go!!

Hi all!

All of the save the date cards have gone out in the mail and we're at the 6 month mark! We are getting so excited as October approaches. For those who will be able to make the trip out to Columbus to celebrate with us – we wanted to provide you with some information that may be helpful in making your travel plans.

We have a number of hotel rooms blocked off at the Hilton Garden Inn on Olentangy River Road. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel (614-263-7200) or by visiting our reservation web site (click here). The nightly rate is $119 per room and that rate is available from Wednesday, September 30 to Sunday, October 4. The hotel is roughly right in between our ceremony and reception locations and is very close to the campus of The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) and to downtown Columbus. There are numerous restaurants nearby, including Bob Evans, Sonic, El Vaquero (one of my favorite Mexican restaurants!), and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. There is also a Kroger grocery store across the street.

For those who will be flying to Columbus, the Hilton Garden Inn is about a 20 minute drive from Port Columbus Airport (airport code: CMH). It is also about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Dayton International Airport (airport code: DAY) and 2 hours and 15 minutes from Cleveland Hopkins Airport (airport code: CLE).

We hope this information is helpful for those making travel plans. If you have any questions or need alternate hotel/airport suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me (jennyvillacres@gmail.com) or Gabe (gabewatt@gmail.com).

We can’t wait to see everyone in October!

Puppy!

Well, we haven't updated in a while but we have some fun news to share....we got a dog! Her name is Stevie and she is an 8 month old Corgi mix. We adopted her from the Franklin County Animal Shelter last night.

We haven't had her long, but we can already tell she is a great fit for our family. She's housetrained and is a very mild mannered dog even though she's still a puppy. We can't wait to take her on camping trips and out on the canoe when the weather gets warmer!

In wedding news, we ordered the Save the Date cards and those should be arriving by the end of this week. I plan to have them sent out by the first of April. Bridesmaid dresses are ordered, we've picked a florist and now we're on to cake! We have 2 cake tasting appointments this Saturday so we might be on a sugar high by the end of the day!

Here are some pictures of Stevie!

Wow!

So time is flying by on this whole wedding countdown thing. We are less than 10 months away, and under the 300 days to go mark, 298 to be exact. Sorry to all our loyal readers out there for not updating this blog more often. I could throw out some lame reasons as to why like holidays and life and wedding planning are all very time consuming things, but I'll just chalk it up to being a little too lazy. So, sorry about not updating.

But, in the time since our last update, we got our engagement pictures taken! We are still in the process of picking out the ones we like best. It is quite the daunting task as there are over 400 pictures to chose from. But rest assured that we will have them picked out by the end of this weekend. And once we pick out the ones we liked best, our photographer, also the youth pastor at our church, will do some touch ups on them and make them look really awesome.

And now that school is done with for me, I will be doing some research on stuff to register for, and where the best places to register are. Our good friends Tim and Kate registered at amazon.com for their wedding and Jenny and I thought that was really cool. So now that I have some more free time, I will be looking a little more into it.

I was just looking at our guest list rough draft, and over half of our guests will be coming from somewhere other than Ohio. So far the long distance award would go to my Army buddy Travis. He will be coming all the way from the great white north of Alaska. But that could always change, seeing as my friend Bob may be able to come home from Iraq to attend the wedding, and my brother Adriel might be coming from Germany. And speaking of out of town guests, in the next few weeks we will have our hotels picked out for our out of town guests, and we will also be compiling a little list of fun things to do in and around Columbus for those not familiar with our great city of Columbus.

We are both looking forward to the big day, and we can't wait to see everyone at our wedding!

One Year To Go!!!

Well, one year from today we will become man and wife. And we are very, very excited!! The planning is going well and we already have the big stuff booked, like where the ceremony will be, and where the reception will be.

The Ceremony - Our wedding ceremony will be held at our church, Mountview Baptist Church located in Upper Arlington, OH. This is the church we have been attending since we started dating back in February of 2007. We are both very active in our church and love to help out at any the large events our church has throughout the year.

The Reception - Our reception will be held at Station 67. This is the historic Toledo and Ohio Central Railway Station. The station was built in 1895 and sits right on the edge of downtown columbus. The station has been through quite a lot over the 113 years it has been around. Once we took a look at this venue we knew it was the place we wanted to have our wedding reception, and we hope our guests will love it too.

As the months, weeks, and days pass we will be posting more details about the wedding, like who is going to be in the wedding party, where we are registered, and some links to help our out of town guests get aquatinted to our home of Columbus, OH.
